Ok so SOME people spend 20 hours on the computer a day....that doesn't mean we all have to! You know who you are....
So, class is getting more and more advanced. I'm learning things in Spanish I never even thought about in english. Example?
The relation of the moon and ocean tides. Had no idea there was a relation. I live in AR, there's no need to learn about oceans. Unless you're talking about oceans of plain, then, Riceland comes to mind. So, i had to explain the relation between the moon and ocean tides in spanish. By the way, the gravitational pull of the moon causes high and low tides, the moon's phases are responible for spring tides and neap tides. Boo ya. Thats it in a nutshell.
Yesterday, we were learning different parts of the body, diseases, injuries, cures, first aid items, and discussing what to do in an emergency.
Today, we're learning about the difference between rockets and missils, canons, trenches, reconaissance plans, different types of ships, planes, guns, warfare, military strategies...all in SPANISH. Specifically, we discussed Operation Hope in Samalia, Operation restoration of Democracy in Haiti, Operation Just Cause (which was hilarious), Desert Storm, and a few others. you get the idea- things you don't learn in detail in english, they are forcing on us in Spanish. Interesting, yes. But my head might explode, which would also be interesting, but not very much fun.
By the way, if my translations or spelling was off, i apologize. Let's see if you can do better in just three or four months of Spanish. I'll laugh when the only thing you can pronouce correctly is "mas tequila, por favor" and your drunken accent is better than your sober one. Bring it on, and Besa mi culo.

Happy 4th
So, what is everyone doing for the holiday weekend? Any good firework sites? Or is there another burn ban? I found out today that fireworks are illegal in Monterrey so I'd have to drive out of city limits to shoot some, and that could be difficult considering I don't have a car here...sigh. Maybe I can live vicariously, take some pictures for me and yall have a good holiday.

just a small moment of weakness..
In the news =)
So, in my quest to be completely fluent in Spanish(even if it is against my will) I'm having to relearn a LOT of new vocabulary. It's different learning everything for a second time, but i discovered something new today besides my usual new vocab.
So, the lesson we're studying now is called "in the news" pretty useful, i know. But my new words include kidnapping, two words for thief, 3 words for a corpse, 3 works for saying "shots", 3 words for saying "to shoot", murder, wounded, 2 words for dead (not a body, just dead), to arrest, escape, to flee, 7 new words for different guns, 4 for knives, 3 words for assault, etc. You get the idea. There is one word that does not involve someone getting hurt, and that is "rescue team". Sooo, if this is all I have to look forward to in reading the news...i think I'll pass. My homework assignment is to find a news broadcast and present it in Spanish to the class. Well, after a long search, I found a news article in spanish that didn't involve anyone dying but I could still pronounce most of the words. I ended up learning a lot of new vocab in doing so.
By the way, the article is on illegal immigration. I'll be reading it to my Mexican teachers....im excited. :) hee hee.

Before I forget!
I actually got off my boring butt and went out this weekend. I saw the movie "don't mess with the Zohan"
It was awesome, i loved it, it was funny, BUT.....
at times it was a bit controversial (at best) and it has kind of a sick/perverted sense of humor. I recommend seeing it, but if you have a kid under the age of 13 (which is PUSHING IT) don't let them see it for another 5-10 years or so. I'm not sure what it's rated, but it should be R.
However, I saw Kung Fu Panda the week before, which is also AWESOME. and the humor was a lot cleaner, but still fun for teenagers and adults too, ya know? I'm a big fan of Jack Black, but you don't have to be to really enjoy that movie.
So, i'm done giving my reviews. I just wanted to spread a lil warning just in case you were thinking of sneaking your kid into the theater with Zohan, or letting them watch it when it comes out on DVD.

The man who brought Sexy back is dead to me now...not Justin! Now picture included ;)
So, I just ran 2 and 1/2 miles and now i'm sitting my stinky butt at my computer. It's cold outside but after that first lap around the track, i was a lot warmer. Now, my skin has a reddish tint to it and if I didn't know that I was such a pale freak I would think I was tan...oh the wishful thinking. I'm more likely going to get a tan being in Arkansas in Oct than here in CA during the summer. sigh.
So, I found out something today that
through me off. Yall remember Enrique Iglesias? That sexy man you sings in that wonderful Spanish accent "you can run, you can hide, but you can't escape my love!" Well, even though I know Spanish names and I know almost every concrete noun in Spanish that you can throw at me...It didn't register until today that translated, Enrique Iglesias's name is....Henry Churches.
(Pausing for effect)
Is that not the worst thing you have ever heard? A man like him should be Sexy McMan in english, not Henry Churches. Honestly, a little of me died when i heard that...I'll never be able to think about that man again without thinking of a fat old guy in a friar's robe.
Anywho, other than that not too much is new. i posted a really REALLY long blog a lil while ago about how homesick I was, how crazy my family is, how every other teenager has a much crazier weekend than I do because (alas) I am wise beyond my years, etc. ...but then my internet shut off, deleting the post i had been typing for 45 minutes. So, i was a bit slow writing this one due to my frustration. i'm going to go now before
it does it...again. Ya'll have a nice day! Love you bunchies and bunchies.

Goodbyes
Well, He's in Kuwait. I really didn't expect it to be this hard. He's been with me through one of the hardest things that I'm ever going to face and now, he's gone. He's my best friend and I didn't even realize it untill I was alone. I won't see him again until Febuary and phone conversations are going to be harder than ever with an 8 to 9 hour time difference. I knew it would be hard, I knew it would be a change, but I didn't expect this. I thought that with him and I both in the military I would understand and be happy every time he's sent somewhere...but this... It's not fair. I want to be there, too. But the NG says I have to learn a language first, and he never had that option. Heaven help those terrorists if they so much as scratch him, I'm goin over there and kicking some Haji ass. Female or not, I'll do it with a freakin veil and skirt if I have to.
