Ok so SOME people spend 20 hours on the computer a day....that doesn't mean we all have to! You know who you are....
So, class is getting more and more advanced. I'm learning things in Spanish I never even thought about in english. Example?
The relation of the moon and ocean tides. Had no idea there was a relation. I live in AR, there's no need to learn about oceans. Unless you're talking about oceans of plain, then, Riceland comes to mind. So, i had to explain the relation between the moon and ocean tides in spanish. By the way, the gravitational pull of the moon causes high and low tides, the moon's phases are responible for spring tides and neap tides. Boo ya. Thats it in a nutshell.
Yesterday, we were learning different parts of the body, diseases, injuries, cures, first aid items, and discussing what to do in an emergency.
Today, we're learning about the difference between rockets and missils, canons, trenches, reconaissance plans, different types of ships, planes, guns, warfare, military strategies...all in SPANISH. Specifically, we discussed Operation Hope in Samalia, Operation restoration of Democracy in Haiti, Operation Just Cause (which was hilarious), Desert Storm, and a few others. you get the idea- things you don't learn in detail in english, they are forcing on us in Spanish. Interesting, yes. But my head might explode, which would also be interesting, but not very much fun.
By the way, if my translations or spelling was off, i apologize. Let's see if you can do better in just three or four months of Spanish. I'll laugh when the only thing you can pronouce correctly is "mas tequila, por favor" and your drunken accent is better than your sober one. Bring it on, and Besa mi culo.

Besa mi culo??What the hell?
Thank you Kate, my sentiments exactly. I am pretty sure in my one year of Spanish at MSM, I did not learn that term. Of course, that long ago... who knows. It is good to know my neice is still alive and kicking in CA. I miss you Beth.
THE purpose of THE blog is to keep us updated daily or weekly without having to stop and individually e-mail everyone. Actually, your making me look really good only blogging once a month! :) I'm sure your ready to get back home. The only spanish I learned at MSM was my teachers name....Pinto Bean. I spent a lot of time in the hallway.
